AIBS (Adult Interactive Bible Study)

This group meets following the morning worship
service and is usually facilitated by Pastor Millay.
Most often they spend part of the hour talking in
groups on a more personal level. The discussion
revolves around the biblical truths that were just
shared in the service. It gives people another
chance to review the topic and see how they can
practically apply those truths when the rubber
meets the road in their life.

Sharing prayer requests and upholding each other and the needs of the Pleasant View body in prayer are also a routine part of the time.

AWANA

AWANA is a weekly Wednesday evening event that is aimed at helping 1st-6th grade kids know God and His Word better. Around 50 adult and teen volunteers organize age-appropriate and fun-filled activities in three half-hour time slots: a song and teaching segment called Council Time, a handbook / memory work session, and a game time. The goal is for them to meet Jesus in a life-changing way and to grow in their faith in Him. They are encouraged to do some of the handbook and memory work at home, if they can, and to invite their friends to AWANA.

The kids’ efforts in completing handbook units, memorizing verses, and displaying positive character traits at AWANA are rewarded with AWANA Bucks. Those can be used once or twice a semester at an AWANA Store to buy some fun items. Often there is another special activity once a semester like a Crazy Hat Night and an AWANA Grand Prix.

Children’s Church

Pleasant View’s Children’s Church seeks to reinforce Biblical truths children learn at home with instructional teaching, hands on activities and projects, and providing ways to interact with other children.  The Children’s Church program, ages 4 years to 1st grade, joins with the Junior Church program, ages 2nd grade to 6th grade for a time of kid-friendly worship.  After a brief time of worship, the ages separate and learn the same concept with age-appropriate activities.  The program is currently using the “ABC Digital” curriculum by Answers in Genesis which “takes students of all ages on an exciting chronological journey through the Bible with a focus on apologetics and life application!  All ages are equipped to defend their faith, becoming conformed to the image of Christ, as they learn to apply God’s Word in their everyday lives.”

Elders

Elders, also referred to as the Leadership Team, are the church’s servant leaders ultimately responsible for overseeing all aspects of the church’s well-being, including spiritual, doctrinal, relational, organizational, financial, staffing, property management, and other matters.

Junior Church

Young people at Pleasant View receive Bible-based education through age-appropriate materials published by Answers in Genesis.  Junior Church, for Grades 3rd-6th, is held during the sermon portion of the adults’ morning worship service.  Children’s Church and Junior Church meet together first to learn Scripture verses through songs that are contemporary in nature and include easy to follow motions.

After song time, Junior Church kids split off and learn from lessons focused on the attributes of God through
PowerPoint presentations.  Lessons are taught by qualified
volunteers from the congregation.

Ladies Bible Study

Our ladies Bible study provides an opportunity for women to learn and grow together in their relationship with Christ.  Each lesson points us to study God’s Word in the context it was written. The variety of ages participating allows accountability and encouragement for multiple generations in one group!

Mens Bible Study

Each year from January through March, two dozen men of all ages meet on Saturday mornings from 7 am to 8:30 am for fellowship and a book study led by men from the group.  We finish the study with a 2-day retreat or a day of fellowship where we enjoy being men.

The topics are relevant to men today and are based upon principles from God’s Word.  Previous studies have included: The Lord is My Shepherd by Robert J. Morgan, The Lies Men Believe by Robert Wolgemuth, We Will Not Be Silenced by Erwin Lutzer, and AHA! by Kyle Idleman.

Each session is designed to stand on its own so jump in at any time.

Music Group

The Music Group includes a mix of ages.  All are volunteers using their musical gifts in leading the congregation in singing songs of praise to God.  Six to eight of them meet on
Thursday nights to practice the songs that will be sung during the following Sunday morning service.

The music includes a blend of creative arrangements of songs, primarily from Sovereign Grace Publishing, as well as traditional and original works based on scripture.  Songs are chosen to enhance the subject of that week’s sermon, and are designed to focus our thoughts on God’s amazing character and work and our response to Him.

Sound / Tech Crew

A group of guys faithfully serve as the Sound / Tech Crew.  They support the Music Group as well as any speakers with microphones, sound, lighting, PowerPoint, and other audio-visual materials used during regular and special services.

Nursery

The Pleasant View nursery is available for infants and children from birth to 4 years old.  It consists of two rooms equipped with age-appropriate playthings.  One room has a separate section providing cribs for sleeping babies or a private place for nursing mothers.  A bathroom with a changing table connects the rooms.

Background-screened volunteers, who are scheduled in advance and serve about once every six weeks, staff the nursery.  We have a pager system with which to notify parents should there be a need for them to tend their child during the service.

A children’s Bible along with story-related coloring sheets is available to introduce young ones to God’s word.

Sunday School

(4 years old to 1st Grade)

We want kids even at this age to learn about Jesus. In this class, we have Bible stories, memory verses, crafts, coloring pictures, games, and snacks.  The stories we teach come from the Bible.  We learn about Jesus’ life as a child and as He grows up. We also hear how Noah built a BIG ark and was faithful in obeying God.  We would love to see your child’s smiling face!

Sunday School

(2nd - 4th Grade)

This Sunday School class learns how to navigate their Bibles, learns about who God is, and celebrates victories with the occasional ice cream treat.  When there is a fifth Sunday in the month the focus is on a service project which could include anything from making jump ropes for Operation Christmas Child to painting sun catchers and making blankets to give to nursing homes.

The hope is that any 2nd - 4th grade student would feel welcome to join in the fun!

Sunday School

(5th - 6th Grade)

The 5th and 6th grade years can be difficult.  Students are seeking to find their own world view.

The class incentivizes students to memorize Bible verses that are remembered for a lifetime and basic biblical truths that will help their own spiritual growth.  We try to teach the gospel in such a way that kids want to come and learn more Bible truths.

Trustees

The Trustees are responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the church building and grounds. They use the talents and skills God has given them to either do repairs themselves or supervise the use of outside contractors to do the work.  The Trustees oversee projects such as the installation of an LED church sign and the organization of church work days in which church members take part to accomplish certain tasks while at the same time encouraging one another and serving the Lord.

Youth Group

Youth group is a place for teens in grades 7-12 who want to grow in making their faith personal.  We emphasize Biblical literacy, uplifting friendships, prayer, and service.  Our faith is relevant to our daily lives and walking with Christ alongside other Christians is so fun! Youth group meets on Sunday nights throughout the year to play, eat, laugh, and study the Word of God.  We also have a rhythm of monthly hangout nights, summer trips or retreats, and spontaneous fellowship throughout the year.
